"Come be creative! It takes courage to immerse yourself into something you are not familiar with. You don't have to be an ""artist"" to reap the healing benefits of creating. Making time for art is as valuable for whole health as physical exercise. Commit to 4 1.5 hour sessions of exploring different art media. Each week I will introduce a different artist. I will guide you through exploration and manipulation of materials. The methods encouraged in these sessions are ones that have been used for art therapy and rehabilitation. The process of art is soothing, relaxing and mindful.

Choose to attend this course to make time for yourself. Attend to create as part of your own personal health journey. Have the courage to create. You will go home relaxed and have a personal work of art. You will go home with tactics to make sure you continue to practice art at home. "

    Instructor: Nancy Spier
My name is Nancy Spier. Art, nature and activity have been my therapy for years. As a professional educator I am excited to offer this class. My own recent rehabilitation has opened my eyes to how important the act of creating is. Due to traumatic injury I have needed the extra courage to recuperate physically and courage to create once again. I want to use my art teaching skills to provide an opportunity for anyone that might be intimidated by the arts to try creating as a method of healing. I know too well the fear of not feeling you are an artist. Baby steps. I will guide you.
