    About Your Instructor:
Mary grew up in Shelburne looking at the Adirondacks with the sun, wind, waves, and constantly moving Lake Champlain. She has always loved color. The Shelburne Craft School provided art classes for children and Mary was enchanted.

During high school she studied commercial art with Linda Reynolds and went on to Johnson State College studying with Peter Heller, John Battdorf and Ken Leslie. (Drawing, sculpture, batik, and clay) Also, she danced with Maris Wolf and a trio called 3-D performing “guerrilla improv” around Vermont.

Later studies continued at SUNY Purchase (photography and dimensional art), Parsons School of Design (weaving and sewing) and with Carol McDonald (printmaking) in her Colchester, Vermont studio.

It was later on after she created Spudprints, a handprinted/handpainted clothing company, that she started featuring brilliant combinations of color.

Painting the rich, playful banners she creates today began in 1999. Later, she began photographing her work for greeting cards.

Paintings are her latest passion. Accepted into the Vermont Studio School in Johnson VT in 2007 she had time to explore this art in a deeper way.

Mary also paints interiors for clients in Vermont, New York and Maryland. Her latest mural project is for Sugarbush.
